Of course, having children is a possibility. Things may be a little different, and you may have to make a few changes, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t be career focused just because you decided to have a baby. There are more career options available for women these days when it comes to the workplace. Some women cast doubt on the fact woman can hold a successful career while they are having children and building a family. Women can have both.

Here are the reasons that can help you to keep your career and build a family at the same time:

Maternity leave:

It is crucial when you are maintaining a career and building a family that you know all about your company’s maternity leave regulations. If you have been with that company for a certain amount of time, you may have some time up your sleeve, so you can be paid while you are spending time with your baby. Book up your holidays so when the baby is born, you can enjoy that time with your child while getting a break from work at the same time.

Swapping roles:

Most of the time the father works and mum stays at home with the kids. This is not so common these days and we are seeing more and more stay at home dads these days. If your hubby isn’t as career driven as you are then perhaps, he can stay home with the kids while you work and continue to build your career. Thus enhancing the worker productivity at work as well as a parent nurturing capacities at home.

Child Care Options

Childcare is an option. A lot of children are in childcare, and it can be good for them to be away from you at times to help with separation. The children learn to interact with other children, are taught colours and numbers which can be a head start ready for kinder. You can opt for a personal babysitter or ask family and friends to help but childcare is there, and with the childcare subsidy it’s even more affordable to send your children to childcare. This will allow you to continue on with your career as you always have.

Work from Home Options

If the job you do can be done outside the workplace, you could consider your work at home options. If you are a hairdresser, then you can consider opening up your own salon close by where you can close off a section where the children can play while you work. You need to understand the importance of investing your time and energy into finding different alternatives that can show you fruitful outcomes. If you are a newspaper writer, you might consider freelancing from home and working with the various writing platforms online. This is a good option for those with or wanting children as you can work before the children wake up or work after the children have gone to bed.

There is no reason why you have to give up your career when you are building a family. Yes, you may need to make some changes, but changes are always good sometimes and often well overdue.

You may have to change some hours or change the days you work, but with a few changes, you can have the family life and your dream career.
